The non-profit sector’s accomplishments as contributors to the health and wellness of our communities is well known, but we talk less about their importance as employers. The COVID-19 pandemic has created new operational challenges for non-profits, including:
- Decreases in revenue, exacerbated by low financial reserves,
- Transitioning services to ensure in-person safety and / or virtual services, and
- The resulting increase in staff exhaustion, lay-offs and the loss of volunteers.
